Explanation:

In the legendary story of Damon and Pythias, the theme of the whole story is friendship and trust between two friends. The strong bond and belief of the two friends was such that it even led to a change of heart in the tyrant ruler Dionysius.

Falsely accused by King Dionysius of trying to overthrow him from the throne, Pythias was arrested and to be hanged. He requested to be given time to make his family affairs settled, which led to he replaced captivation of Damon in place of his friend. Till the end, Damon believed Pythias will return and keep his word, but even if he did not turn up, he gladly accepted the honor to die for his friend. This was the extend of their trust and friendship that Damon was ready to sacrifice his life for his friend.

Despite getting almost late in his return, Pythias returned nevertheless which touched Dionysius so much that he pardoned both of the men. His heart was changed and he became more kind and compassionate.
