(x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2

given that center is (0,0) and r =8 and x=7

putting all the values: -

(7–0)^2+(y-0)^2=64

49+y^2 =64

y^2=15

y=+ sqrt(15) [rejected] or y= -sqrt(15)

given in the question is that point a is below the x axis

hence y=-sqrt(15)

=-3.87
