First you divide the area into a rectangle and triangle.

The dimension for the rectangle is 28 by 50.

You multiply both number and that it will be 1400f^2.

Then for the triangle you must subtract 50 from 71 

71 - 50 = 21

Now you have the base for the triangle.

We currently have the base as 21 and the hypotenuse as 35.

To find the area of a right triangle, you need both legs of the triangle and divide them by 2. a x b / 2

We must find the other leg by doing the Pythagorean Theorem.

Since we already have the hypotenuse, we will do 35^2 - 21^2 which equals 784. 

Then we find the square root of 784, which is 28. 28 is the other leg.

Now we have both bases of the triangle. We now substitute our numbers into the formula to find the area of a triangle.

a x b / 2 >  28 x 21 / 2

28 x 21 = 588

588 / 2 = 294 ft^2

Finally add the area of the rectangle and triangle.

1400 + 294 = 1694 ft^2 is the answer.
