Add the amounts of atoms on each side of the equation, the goal is to make them equal the same on each side.

There is 2H on the left side but 3H on the right side.
There is 2N on the left side but 1N on the right side.

To solve this I would be put 3 in front of the H2 and a 2 in front of the NH3. This would cause all the atoms to balance up and therefore the equation to be balanced.
