Huey felt that way because since he didn't know how to read or write, not one teacher came up to him and asked "hey, do you need help?" or whatever the case was in the situation. So, he felt like all they were trying to do, was to use him of his knowledge. Not one instructor ever awoke in me a desire to learn more or to question or to explore the worlds of literature, science, and history" This just explains that he had to take matters into his hands, to get his education.

Plus school was "killing his urge to inquire" this sounds like, it didn't make sense for him to stay in school if none of the teachers were going to help him
