Skeletal muscle works voluntray control, and activate only when get stimulus from motor neurons. Skeletal muscle are composed of bundle of muscle fiber. Muscle fibers contract or relax when they receive signals from nervous system. A neuromuscular junction is present in muscle fibers that allows  signal exchange.

The action potential takes place at muscle fibers by producing sarcolemmal potential (due to exchange of sodium -potasium ions) around sarcomere contain muscle proteins including Myosin, Actin, troponin, and tropomyosin. Actin and myosin forms a cross bridge with other. The sliding filament mechanism of myosin and actin over each other generates ATP due to hydrolysis and releases ADP. Troponin and tropomysine present in actin, then blocks the cross bridging of actin and myosine.The contraction is controlled by calcium ion as they bind to the actin and activates the binding site in it. Myosin binds to the binding site and again forms cross bridg that carries calclium ions to the neurotransmitter junction. When calcium reaches at neuromuscular junction, it get signal and results the contraction of muscle.  

This is how muscle protein contributes in action potebtial of skeletal muscles and mainatain the muscle dynamics.
